The automotive industry marches forward every day and Honda has put out patents on two incredible pieces of safety technology using augmented reality heads-up displays (HUDs). These technologies will help keep you - and those around you - safer as you drive.
The first patent is for pedestrian safety tech and it would allow you, through the use of a HUD, to see pedestrians around you - even in your blind spots. This would prepare you for any number of possible situations where you would need to brake for a pedestrian, allowing you to react before your vehicle would automatically intervene. The second patent is for vehicle-to-vehicle communication that would essentially allow you to see through the vehicle ahead of you to see the one ahead of it. Observing its speed would prepare you for a sudden brake or change of speed to keep you and those around you safe.
These are still experimental so we're sure it will be some time before we saw either implemented into the selection of new Honda models. However, once they're a reality, driving will be safer than ever before.
